Based in Cornwall, Caradon Stone is a premium supplier of beautiful, local natural stone sourced from old quarries on Bodmin Moor - quarries that historically form the foundations and structure of some of the most noted buildings in London, including Tower Bridge. Granite is their trade, a stone rich in history and heritage for Cornwall, through its industry and serving as a bedrock.

The brand aims to appeal both creatively and functionally to architects, designers, and builders. I began by considering stone as a material, shaped and sculpted by stone masons and architects who seek to mold it, breaking it to their will to create grand designs and art. Building with stone serves a practical and lasting function, making it ideal for heritage and contemporary builds. Clean lines and cuts shape the stone; however, its natural, rough and weathered exterior holds beauty in our eyes - deep-rooted and primitive.

When designing the logo, I held these two conflicting concepts in my mind - the clean-cut polished stone of function and utility and the rough edge of nature’s toll. I imagined the font was made of stone - cut to form letters, yet unfinished, with a rough edge as a reminder of what the material once was and what it will return to.
